Announcing winners and finalists!
Deloitte is a professional services organization that offers consulting services related to strategy and operations, human capital and technology integration. It is one of the top-ranked consulting firms with access to more than 8,000 practitioners around the world. Deloitte is the only firm with access to a full range of audit, tax, consulting and financial advisory services.
Deloitte won the Partner Innovation Award based on two initiatives – from Deloitte Consulting globally and a specific project in Portugal.
Initiative 1: Deloitte Consulting LLP
Deloitte was the first big consulting firm to offer a structured approach to process modeling called IndustryPrint. This process modeling approach and repository captures Deloitte's knowledge of leading-practice business processes for 30+ industry segments. In building the next generation of IndustryPrint, Deloitte wanted to deploy and manage process model content mapped to ERP solutions. Process modeling must be kept simple, with end users needing to be trained in only four hours. Deloitte's clients didn't want proprietary modeling tools, nor did they have BPM teams in place to define BPM standards, methods and conventions.
Deloitte standardized its next generation of IndustryPrint on ARIS and has achieved its BPM vision of having a simple, repeatable and robust approach for automating design deliverables in its ERP delivery methods. By using ARIS, Deloitte can deliver high value, consistency and quality to its clients' business process transformation projects. The platform provides non-proprietary process modeling tools and aligns with the strategic direction of the major ERP vendors.
The solution improves process transparency for Deloitte's clients and their business process owners. A common process modeling approach reduces risk and decreases design activities by 25 percent. The initiative gives Deloitte a competitive advantage in that the consultancy now has a very detailed point of view on how to best use ARIS and can move immediately into process transformation activities at the start of an engagement. Deloitte can more easily deliver preconfigured solutions and process leading practices, and Deloitte's clients are able to make ongoing process improvements that reduce costs and increase ROI.
Senior BPM practitioners from Software AG worked with Deloitte to design, develop and test a streamlined BPM approach that focused on the ERP delivery method and automated many common ARIS modeling tasks. For example, hierarchy automation features were added to ARIS so Deloitte modelers could easily transition to the new platform with minimal training. These enhancements also will make it easier for time-constrained client service teams to enforce good business process modeling practices in ARIS.
Why Software AG?
Deloitte selected Software AG for its BPM market leadership. Additionally, ARIS offered the robust functionality and controls needed to deploy a global process modeling platform for nearly 10,000 users. Deloitte also has developed a very strong relationship with the Software AG development team—one that gave both companies the confidence they could create a solution that would satisfy both Deloitte's rigorous requirements and its clients' business transformation needs.
Initiative 2: Deloitte Consulting, Portugal
Deloitte's global commitment to process excellence was reflected clearly in an IT transformation project for one global 100 financial institution. This international client wanted to establish an optimized Enterprise Architecture Management platform. More than 1,000 applications were in place, and different technologies were in use. The goals were to consolidate and reduce the application footprint, rationalize the technology portfolio and gain an integrated view of the application portfolio, its synergies and business impact.
Deloitte started by consolidating the application inventories into a common structure—a single central ARIS repository. The client already was using ARIS Business Architect and had begun mapping processes to applications. These applications were imported into the repository, while maintaining existing mappings and modeling.
Deloitte then mapped applications to more than 40 functional domains with the goal of promoting the alignment of IT with the business. ARIS modeling capabilities were used to build a functional-domains map diagram. Applications were assigned to each domain. For each of the most critical domains, Deloitte worked with relevant teams to gather and instantiate the respective context diagram in the ARIS repository.
Communication within the IT department and with the business lines was improved greatly, thanks to a common language through the use of the functional domains map and context diagrams created in ARIS IT Architect. This was complemented by the dashboard reporting capabilities of ARIS MashZone. The solution brought together business and IT with a common set of concepts, a single platform and a collaborative governance model.
The project took advantage of the client's existing use of the ARIS Platform and consolidated the IT portfolio on the same platform. All the information about applications is available to application owners through ARIS IT Inventory. That means each application owner can access the inventory, visualize the application portfolio and update attributes or improve information quality.
Why Software AG?
The client had used the ARIS Platform for operational risk management. Building on that positive experience, the client added ARIS IT Architect and ARIS IT Inventory. These products are part of Software AG's analyst-recognized Enterprise Architecture Management suite. They've proved the right choice by providing one platform for both business and IT views.
