Keep your database secure with standard SAF Security – while increasing DBA productivity
Assure high security for your Adabas databases in the most efficient way possible. You can do that with Adabas SAF Security. This valuable Adabas add-on tool enables mainframe Adabas to re-use existing security definitions from IBM’s System Authorization Facility (SAF) on z/OS, z/VSE and z/VM platforms. SAF Security is a standard system accepted by auditors the world over and enables ‘plug in’ security when implementing RACF, CA-ACF2 or CA-Top Secret data security products.

Encryption for Entire Net-Work offers seamless integration of encryption of business data between the application and an Adabas database using Entire Net-Work as the basic transport mechanism. Selected features include:
Protection where it’s needed most—over public networks
Applications using the internet or public networks accessing databases need to have a secure network connection
Application transparency makes it painless to secure the data traffic between an application and the Adabas database.
Cross platform protection of Entire Net-Work connections allows IT to establish a secure line to Adabas databases on Mainframe and Open Systems environments.
Wide range of encryption algorithms that best suits an organization’s needs.
Encryption for Entire Net-Work protects business data in flight between applications and Adabas databases.
Whenever business data is sent from an application to a database or requested from a database the message is encrypted or decrypted respectively. Encryption makes it much harder for a hacker to take advantage of stolen data. This is particularly crucial when using internet connections between applications and an Adabas database.
While the client (application) resides on Open Systems, the target database may either be on Open System or Mainframe. The Encryption for Entire Net-Work software plugs in either in the Entire Net-Work client (WCL) and in Entire Net-Work (WCP) at the server side, where Adabas resides. The Encryption algorithm is provided by so-called “certificates”, which can be generated with a tool that is included with the product (recommended for test purposes only). Production level encryption certificates need to be purchased from an authority such as VeriSign, GlobalSign, DATEV, QuoVadis and others. The Entire Net-Work encryption product is based on the open source package OpenSSL. The base for protecting data in a pure Adabas mainframe environment (client and server) will be made available in a later version of Entire Net-Work.
