Software AG hosts OSGi™ Alliance Community Event 2011

• OSGI™ Alliance Community Event for the first time takes place in the “Silicon Valley of Europe”; hosted by Software AG, German Telekom AG and SAP AG
• Event fosters a valuable cross-industry ecosystem, featuring how organizations can benefit from OSGi standards

Software AG teams with German Telekom AG and SAP AG to host this year’s OSGi™ Alliance Community Event in Darmstadt, Germany, on September 20 and 21, 2011. For the first time, the event takes place in Darmstadt which is also the heart of Europe’s largest software cluster, named the “Silicon Valley of Europe”. This year the event will focus on ‘OSGi – Evolution & Success’. It will not only provide the latest news about the OSGi Alliance and its current specification work, but also explore how organizations are implementing and benefiting from using OSGi standards-based architectures in their IT infrastructures, products, and services.

The event takes place every year and includes technology-oriented presentations related to the use of OSGi technology in multiple markets, tutorials, as well as technical and business case studies. Software AG, headquartered in Darmstadt, Germany, is one of the three hosts of this year’s event and participates with two highlights:

• Consolidation patterns for legacy components -- Stefan Vladov, Senior Software Engineer in the OSGi platform team at Software AG, presents Software AG’s approach to consolidating JAAS-based server components including dynamic loading of login modules and dynamic domain configurations. The login modules are bundles or POJO legacy implementations.

• Architectural Approaches for moving to OSGi -- Tim Bond, a member of the platform architecture team at Software AG, explores the company’s approach to moving their flagship integration platform from plain old Java to OSGi as well as challenges encountered as part of the move.

The OSGi Alliance is a worldwide consortium of technology innovators that advance a proven and mature process to assure interoperability of applications and services based on its component integration platform. The OSGi Service Platform is delivered in many Fortune Global 100 company products and services. The alliance provides specifications, reference implementations, test suites and certification to foster a valuable cross-industry ecosystem.
