Hannover, Germany, 4/9/2013
Software AG is presenting solutions for an elemental change in the industrial sector at this year’s Hannover Messe tradeshow: The growing integration of networking in manufacturing, also called Industry 4.0. Hannover Messe is focusing on this development with its lead theme, Integrated Industry.
At this year’s Hannover Messe, Software AG is demonstrating how companies can manage the latent change in the industrial sector to Industry 4.0. The new Terracotta In-Genius software platform provides business-relevant information in real time—from any Big Data source to any end device, allowing companies to take full advantage of Industry 4.0. Because RFID, machine-to-machine communication and the “Internet of Things” not only network production and delivery processes, they also massively increase data volumes. Thus, the flood of data known as “Big Data” poses one of the greatest challenges for integrated industry, or Industry 4.0.
“Germany is uniting its global leadership as an industrial location with its position as a world leader in enterprise software,” says Karl-Heinz Streibich, CEO of Software AG and member of Bitkom’s Executive Committee. “This makes us predestined to become the leading location for Industry 4.0 based on the Internet of Things.”
By networking industrial machines and devices with the internet—and machine-to-machine (M2M) communication— billions of sensors represent a new type of client. Businesses must also extract real-time data not only from traditional desktop and laptop systems, but also from mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and terminals. By combining technological innovations, Software AG has succeeded in creating an in-memory data management platform that will bring about a paradigm change in data processing.
The integration of cutting-edge in-memory technologies ensures the necessary scalability regarding data volumes with a minimum lag time for data processing to satisfy the requirements for Big Data applications. The platform allows businesses to process and analyze massive data streams in real time, immediately filtering out relevant information from the data volumes streaming in.
This is how Software AG’s in-memory data management platform makes real-time analysis of huge data volumes a reality—and builds a bridge between transactional and analytical data. It further offers flexible opportunities for the rapid transport and integration of new types of Big Data, such as from sensor data streams (Internet of Things), data streams from social media platforms such as Twitter or Facebook, data from mobile devices as well as distributed data.
Software AG is presenting a showcase on the Big Data phenomenon at the BITKOM C04 booth in Hall 7.
