Vertical scalability
You can scale the webMethods Integration Server vertically to maximize the performance of the software on individual servers. Aside from disk space and available RAM, the webMethods Integration Server has no constraints so it can process a message of any size. You can adapt the webMethods Integration Server’s handling of large messages so queuing and persistence methods as well as run-time components deliver optimal performance and scale to maximize the use of your hardware.
Security and authentication
Count on support for the most frequently used security standards, including SSL/TLS for securing the HTTP and JMS transports, and WS-Security for securing messages. The ESB also supports options to encrypt and digitally sign messages as well as support for different authentication tokens.
The webMethods Integration Server also supports other standards that enhance and enrich integration with other systems. Those include JDBC for database integration and LDAP/LDAPS for authentication against directory services.
Horizontal scalability
You can also scale the webMethods Integration Server horizontally by deploying additional platform nodes and configuring them to be load balanced. Load-balancing mechanisms are part of the Software AG clustering architecture, so messaging load can be distributed across multiple physical machines. The clustering feature supports load balancing and automatic fail-over.
