Software AG Wins Two 2007 Product of the Year Awards from SearchSOA.com

Software AG, a global leader in business infrastructure software, today announced that it was recently awarded two 2007 Product of the Year Awards by SearchSOA.com. The company’s webMethods BPMS, v.7.1 was recognized as the Product of the Year in the Service Design and Modeling category while the webMethods ESB, v.7.1 was named a Product of the Year for Service Assembly and Integration. Awards were presented in eight categories overall with Software AG named the only multiple award winner in this year’s competition. SearchSOA.com is TechTarget’s leading online media resource for the burgeoning service-oriented architecture (SOA) market.

webMethods BPMS, v.7.1 is a full-feature process design, execution, monitoring and management solution.  Using an intuitive, easy-to-use design interface, business analysts and developers can collaboratively model, implement, automate, monitor and improve end-to-end business processes.  Key features of webMethods BPMS include patented business activity monitoring (BAM), embedded simulation, advanced human workflow, a comprehensive metadata repository, integrated business rules management and composite application development.

The webMethods ESB, v.7.1 is a comprehensive, standards-based enterprise service bus (ESB) enabling integration and interoperability of applications, services, processes and partners via a single platform.  It builds upon enterprise-class technology to deliver proven performance, scalability, security and support for key industry standards. 

As the editors of SearchSOA.com wrote, “webMethods abstracts protocols from service invocation to allow the loose coupling essential to service orientation. A GUI allows for the automatic creation of service consumer and provider contracts. The company's legacy means that multiples transport and security protocols are supported as well as it having more than 100 adapters to packaged and mainframe applications. Yet, inside the runtime container, those adapters function like any other standard Web service.  The product leverages multi-threading for scalability and contains load balancing mechanisms as part of its clustering architecture. The clustering feature also uses a shared repository to hold webMethods state information for use in load balancing and automatic fail-over.”

The awards were presented by the editors of TechTarget’s Application Development Media Group.  Judging each submission were the SearchSOA.com editorial staff, in conjunction with a team of users, industry experts, analysts, and consultants.  Evaluation criteria had a real-world focus and included innovation, performance, ease of integration into existing environments, ease of use and manageability, functionality, value and how well they enable service orientation.  Based on these evaluations, nine “Products of the Year” were selected from among the enterprise SOA-related products introduced, upgraded, and shipped between December 1, 2006, and November 30, 2007.
