(These days he would expand his horizons using digital media.
Intuitive applications make it possible.)
How can cultural institutions of the future keep step with modern technology? How can they best utilize digital channels for their educational mandate? A collaborative partnership from the science and business worlds offers one answer: They are developing a pioneering multimedia cloud-based media and collaboration platform for the cultural sector. The goal is to open up museums, libraries and other institutions to the digital age. After all, even Goethe would expand his digital horizons these days. New, intuitive applications make it all possible.
In the future, visitors can use smartphones, tablets and other devices to have quick and easy access to in-depth information and content links between museums objects or multimedia content such as films, graphics or web texts for books.
The Städel Museum in Frankfurt and the library at Darmstadt University (ULB) are taking part in this important development for the future of cultural heritage. Other project partners include Hochschule Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, the House of IT, media transfer AG, nterra integration GmbH and Software AG. Bringing high-tech into the cultural sphere provides a beacon project for other institutions in the cultural and public sectors.
These projects (HA project no.: 320/12-10, 321/12-11, 322/12-12) are funded as part of the Hesse Model Projects program in the LOEWE Excellence Initiative sponsored by the state of Hesse, 3rd line of funding: SME Alliance Projects.
