John “Jay” Johnson

John “Jay” Johnson joined the Group Executive Board in August 2012 with his appointment as President and CEO of Software AG USA, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for Software AG’s United States and Canadian business operations.

Jay Johnson brings more than 20 years of leadership experience in the IT industry to Software AG. He was previously with MicroStrategy where he served as Senior Vice President North America, implementing a new sales methodology which led to a dynamic increase in revenue and sustainable growth. 

Mr. Johnson began his career in 1988 with Xerox Corporation. From there he joined OCE-USA in 1992 where he held several leadership positions. Later, he worked for Business Objects/SAP until 2009, progressing in the organization from Area Sales Director to Senior Vice President of Enterprise Sales and Operations. 

Jay Johnson holds a bachelor’s degree in Marketing, graduating with honors, from Towson University and an MBA, also with honors, from Johns Hopkins University.


Mighael Botha

Mighael Botha

Chief Technology Officer of Software AG North America

Mighael Botha is a seasoned professional with more than 24 years of experience in Information Technology. In his current role as CTO for North America, he regularly meets and presents to C-Level Executives on topics like Cloud Computing, Big Data, Mobile development, SOA and Business Process Management.  Mr. Botha guides and directs technical resources throughout the Americas to deploy and implement complex business solutions using Software AG products.

Prior to joining Software AG in 2002, Mr. Botha worked at numerous Fortune 500 companies as a software developer and later as a Chief Architect focusing on Enterprise Application integration. He moved to the United States in early 1998 from South Africa where he worked for an IT consulting firm focusing on middleware and mainframe integration. 

Mr. Botha holds a degree in Computer Science and is a passionate speaker on topics like Cloud Computing and Big Data.


Scott Camarotti

Scott Camarotti

National Vice President - US East & Canada

Scott Camarotti is the National Vice President for Software AG North America.  Mr. Camarotti’s responsibilities include the US East coast and Canada.  He formerly served as Vice President for Software AG Canada and Vice President of Business Alliances for Software AG USA.

Previously, Mr. Camarotti founded and was Managing Partner of Apropos Advisory Group (AAG), a management consulting firm partnered with Altitude Consulting focused on providing support to global enterprise organizations.

Prior to Apropos, Mr. Camarotti served as XO’s Vice President of Enterprise Sales and Services. In that role, he led the North American sales and sales support teams in servicing enterprise accounts across the region.

In addition, Mr. Camarotti was Global Crossing’s Vice President of Federal Services and Global Partner Development. He also served as Area Vice President of Sales for US-Southeast and US-Midwest. He led sales teams that provided next generation IP services to US government agencies, departments, and system integrators around the world, as well as managed the sales execution and strategy for partners such as Cisco, Juniper, Avaya, Fluke, and iPass.

Furthermore, Mr. Camarotti has held leadership positions at IBM, ATT, MCI and LecStar Telecommunications. Mr. Camarotti holds a B.A. in Economics and Finance from the University of Massachusetts.


Mike Ellison

Senior Vice President, Sales

Mike Ellison is Senior Vice President of Sales at Software AG where he is responsible for managing the sales operations for commercial markets in the eastern US and the national verticals of State and Local Government and Life Sciences.  Mr. Ellison joined Software AG in July of 2001 and has held a variety of Sales Management and Executive Management roles. 

Prior to joining Software AG he spent 10 years with General Electric within Plastics (GEP) and Information Services (GEIS) where he held Sales and Sales Management positions.

Mr. Ellison holds a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Assumption College, Worcester Mass.


Michael Fisher

Vice President, Sales

Michael Fisher is Vice President of Sales at Software AG where he is responsible for leading the sales and strategy efforts for the commercial markets in the western US.  He joined Software AG in May 2010.

Mr. Fisher has 22 years of proven success growing and building enterprise software sales teams, with a track record of exceeding aggressive growth targets. Before joining Software AG, Mr. Fisher was Software Sales Manager at IBM, where he helped clients implement new technologies to drive strategic advantages in the marketplace.  Prior to that, he held various sales leadership positions in enterprise software sales.

Mr. Fisher holds an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Science degree from Bradley University.


Joe Gentry

Senior Vice President, Marketing & Business Development

Joe Gentry originally joined Software AG in July 1989 as a systems engineer within the US sales organization.  Over the years, Mr. Gentry has held positions within sales, product management and product marketing but most recently was the Chief Technology Officer of Software AG’s Enterprise Transaction Systems business line.  Currently, he is responsible for marketing and business development in Software AG’s North American operation.

Mr. Gentry started his professional career in 1982 as a senior programmer with Signet Bank in Baltimore, MD.  Later in 1987, he moved to Alex Brown & Sons, Baltimore, where he held the position of business and systems analyst. From the years 1994 through 2001 he served in a management capacity at several software startups, including Merant, Spaceworks and infoShark, Inc.

Mr. Gentry has more than 25 years of marketing and technology leadership experience in the software industry and holds a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management from Drexel University.


Jeffrey Gross

Vice President, North America Field Marketing

Jeffrey Gross joined Software AG in December 2012 as VP of Field Marketing for North America. He is responsible for developing the marketing strategy and leading the North America marketing team to expand brand awareness and thought leadership via Public Relations, digital marketing, social media, and advertising, to driving net new revenue opportunities with innovative marketing campaigns and executive relationship marketing. Previously, Mr. Gross has held executive marketing roles at KPMG, Baan, Ariba, BearingPoint, and recently at Microsoft where he developed and implemented the industry marketing approach reaching net new business audience targeting Microsoft’s Enterprise accounts.

Mr. Gross brings more than 25 years of strategic marketing and solution selling business development experience in Enterprise Software and holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from The University of Michigan.


Ines van Daalen Thornburg

Senior Vice President, Global Consulting Services

Ines Thornburg is Senior Vice President of Global Consulting Services for North America. In this role she is responsible for expanding the footprint of Software AG‘s software licenses and the successful implementation and delivery of solutions for customers throughout North America (focusing on the webMethods, ARIS, Adabas and Natural customer base). In addition, Ms. Thornburg is responsible for integrating the webMethods and ARIS consulting team of 150 consultants into a profitable, scalable North America business. She also builds strong alliance partnerships with Global System Integrators, Boutique, ISV & OEM channel partners.

Prior to joining Software AG, Ms. Thornburg served as Senior Practice Director, Oracle Consulting Services. In that position she focused on delivering Enterprise Performance Management and Business Intelligence solutions to Fortune 500 customers in the Healthcare/Life Sciences, Public Sector and Higher Education industries.  

Before Oracle she worked for Hyperion Solutions, which was later acquired by Oracle.  There she played an active leadership role in launching the ATS Strategic Region which included all areas of technical services supporting Hyperion’s strategic customers, both pre- and post-sales consulting, technical account management, active solution implementation and consulting business development. Throughout her career there she received numerous awards, including Top Revenue Generator, District Manager of the Year and the Advanced Technology Group Impact Award.

Ms. Thornburg is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Technology Services Industry Association. She participates in local Women in Technology events. Ms. Thornburg holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, graduating with honors.


Bruce Williams

Senior Vice President, Strategic Business Transformation Seolutions

Bruce Williams is Senior Vice President for Strategic Business Transformation Solutions at Software AG. In this capacity, he is the senior executive responsible for the performance of the company’s most strategic customers in North America, with a particular emphasis on enabling process-driven business transformation. He was previously the Senior Vice President responsible for the company’s webMethods business process management (BPM) suite.

Mr. Williams speaks and writes frequently on topics in business and technology trends. He co-authored Six Sigma for Dummies (John Wiley & Sons, 2005 and 2012), Six Sigma Workbook for Dummies (2006), Lean for Dummies (2007, 2012), as well as BPM Basics for Dummies (2008) and Process Intelligence for Dummies (2010).

Previously, Mr. Williams was Chairman and CEO of Savvi International, co-founder and CEO of The Six Sigma Management Institute, and co-founder of Entrada Software. He also held several senior management positions with Sybase; before that, he spent 16 years in technical management, systems, and software engineering positions for Ball Aerospace Systems.

Mr. Williams holds a dual Master of Engineering in technical management and computer science, completed in 1988 from the University of Colorado and Johns Hopkins University. He first graduated with a Bachelor of Science in physics and astrophysics from Colorado in 1978.
