Software AG Makes Major Donation to Reston-Based Common Ground Child Care Center

Company Employees Provide Local Children with Bikes, Helmets and Locks Through “Tour de France” Style Community Service Program

Reston, VA, U.S., Friday, April 13, 2018

Software AG (Frankfurt TecDAX: SOW), the digital transformation specialists, today announced a major donation to the Common Ground Child Care Center, a non-profit corporation serving families in Reston, Virginia. Knowing that many children are unable to experience the joy of being presented with their first bicycle, Software AG selected a “Bike Build for Charity” program facilitated by Impact 4 Good, LLC., a company that runs socially conscious team-building programs, to oversee their community service activity, donating bicycles, helmets and locks to deserving local children.

Working in teams, participants competed in a high-paced “Tour de France” themed contest to see who would emerge victorious in a set of challenges and earn parts to build bicycles. The challenges included an Eiffel Tower block building competition, a soccer shootout, a Seine River crossing, as well as an international bike-themed trivia activity. After participating in the challenges, teams then assembled the children’s bikes and wrote a message of encouragement to accompany each bike, which the beneficiary children received from Software AG’s team in person later that day.

Garrett Wilhelm, Executive Director at Common Ground Child Care Center, graciously thanked the group at the event for their time and effort in helping to provide these much-appreciated gifts to some very deserving children.

“The bikes have already brought so much joy to families who can’t afford them and many other creature comforts in life. I cannot begin to express the gratitude we have for Software AG and its amazing staff,” he said following the event.

“Social responsibility and civic engagement are a deeply ingrained part of Software AG’s identity,” said Software AG Chief Marketing Officer Jennifer Smith. “Through our work with the Software AG Foundation, an independent charity, we supported over 25o charitable projects in 2017 with returns on an endowment of $1.4 billion. This year, we are thrilled to support the Common Ground Child Care Center and watching the children collect their bikes with smiles on their faces was a wonderful life-changing experience for our team in Reston.”
