REIF

Resource-efficient, Economic and Intelligent Foodchain

Description

Objective of REIF is to reduce the waste of food in production and retail - for instant almost one third of all milk produced is lost in the value chain before it is bought by customers. To solve this huge economic but above all societal problem, REIF investigates the potential of Artificial Intelligence to optimize planning and controllability of the value chain. The core of REIF is the conception of an AI ecosystem that integrates stakeholders at all stages of the food industry.

System Innovation for Sustainable Development – Knowledge Transfer as a Regional Learning Process. Information and Communication Technologies to Manage Leather Product Supply Chains

Description

S:NE will transform the fragmented transfer activities of the University of Applied Science Darmstadt into an integrated “learning system.” Implemented in the use case called leather chemicals, the aim of the project is to explore and evaluate the potential of using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for sustainable consumption and production methods on a conceptual level.
The most important outcome is complete transparency across the entire supply chain in order to detect or prevent prohibited impurities or undesirable contaminations by using ICT (such as the Internet of Things).
S:NE is part of the funding program of “Innovative Hochschule” (“Innovative University”) – a cooperation between the German federal government and the federal states.

Satellite-based System to display, predict, and simulate air pollutants for a sustainable urban and regional development

The aim of is to establish an information platform for sustainable urban and regional development. The data and services of the Copernicus space program, which have so far hardly been used in practice, will be developed and transferred into digital services: SAUBER will not only offer a comprehensive and detailed overview of the current air quality, but will also allow forecasts and simulations of the expected air quality using artificial-intelligence methods.
