Christian Vaters is a Senior Product Manager at Software AG, where he is responsible for Natural and contributes to the modernization of the broader product portfolio. His work focuses on helping organizations evolve business-critical applications and development environments by combining proven enterprise technologies with modern approaches such as AI, automation, and cloud-native engineering.
Before joining Software AG, Christian spent three years at Beta Systems as a Product Manager, where he led the development of a next-generation observability platform built from the ground up. Designed on a modern cloud-native foundation, the platform was created to address the evolving needs of enterprise operations teams in increasingly complex IT environments.
His vision extended beyond traditional monitoring and observability. The objective was to help operations teams become more productive by reducing manual effort, accelerating decision-making, and enabling increasingly autonomous operations. By combining observability, automation, and AI-driven insights, the platform was designed to recommend actions, automate repetitive operational tasks, and help teams focus their expertise where it creates the greatest value.
As a product manager, Christian has always maintained a strong customer-centric approach. He prefers working closely with pilot customers and development teams, using continuous feedback loops to ensure products solve real-world problems rather than theoretical ones. His philosophy is simple: successful products are not the ones with the longest feature lists, but the ones that consistently address the needs of the majority of customers and deliver measurable business value.
Prior to Beta Systems, Christian spent more than thirteen years at LVM Versicherung, one of Germany’s leading insurance providers. During this time, he gained deep experience in enterprise IT operations, automation, orchestration, project delivery, and leadership. Working closely with both business and technology teams, he developed a broad understanding of how organizations operate, govern, and modernize mission-critical IT environments.
The experience provided him with perspectives that extend beyond technology alone. Over the years, he worked with internal stakeholders, software vendors, implementation partners, support organizations, and enterprise platforms, gaining firsthand insight into the realities of operating complex IT landscapes. This background gave him a deep understanding of the challenges organizations face when balancing innovation, operational stability, risk management, budgeting, and long-term technology investments.
His vision for intelligent and increasingly autonomous operations was strongly influenced by these years in enterprise IT. Experiencing firsthand how much time, expertise, and coordination are consumed by repetitive operational activities, manual decision-making, and fragmented processes shaped his belief that technology should empower people to focus on higher-value work rather than routine tasks.
Today, Christian brings together both perspectives: the practitioner who has spent years operating and managing enterprise environments and the product leader who builds software to solve those challenges. At Software AG, he applies this experience to help customers modernize business-critical applications, improve developer productivity, and leverage emerging technologies such as AI while preserving the value of existing investments.
Christian believes that successful innovation is not about replacing the past. It is about combining proven business systems, operational expertise, and modern technology to create practical solutions for the future.
