The monitor manages the interactions of programs and utilities, including local and remote devices, in terminal networks of all sizes. It controls access to shared system resources and provides terminal access to database facilities.

Com-plete also offers tools for developing and testing interactive programs written in COBOL, PL/I and Assembler while complementing and enhancing Natural functions.

Com-plete’s Mainframe HTTP Server provides the optimal environment for implementing the “thin client” paradigm on mainframe operating systems. Because it supports all major third- and fourth-generation languages, Com-plete ensures your current talent can re-use existing application code to seamlessly make your mainframe applications available on the Web.

System management facilities

Com-plete includes interactive utilities for file management, library management, catalog management, operating system monitoring and control of the transaction processing environment.

Conversational program management

Com-plete supports truly conversational programming. When a program becomes inactive due to terminal I/O or data access, a storage management routine automatically “rolls out” a compressed copy of the program to secondary storage and keeps the system running efficiently. As soon as the program is reactivated it is returned to main storage.

This roll in/out process is transparent to both the application program and user. It is executed with a single I/O command; contrast this with the multiple I/Os needed in a pseudo-conversational scheme. It also eliminates all re-entrancy and re-usability restrictions.

Integrated Natural support

Each Natural program runs as a standard operating system subtask which ensures optimal parallel processing and minimal response times.

Natural performance is improved thanks to the Natural program buffer, a storage area allocated to and managed by Com-plete.

Usage statistics are maintained for each Natural object program loaded; with a least-frequently-used algorithm, the load time for Natural programs is reduced to a minimum.

Parallel program access facility (Com-pass)

Com-pass enables the terminal user to invoke, suspend and reactivated multiple logically concurrent programs. This is especially helpful during program development.

Security system services

The system administrator can limit the access to privileged utility functions or limit a user to a specific set of online programs with Com-pass. To achieve an even higher degree of protection for particularly sensitive applications, Com-plete Security System provides access control to specific system objects at the terminal, user or group level. Support is also provided for all security packages using the IBM^® SAF interface.

Web-enablement

Com-plete’s robust HTTP server supports Web-based OLTP applications. The HTTP Server supports Natural programs and 3GLs from its CGI interface, thus capitalizing on the Natural expertise in the development groups.
